Secret Collection of Ferraris and Porsches to Break Cover for First Time at Hampton Court Palace

Ferrari 333 SP

The Concours of Elegance 2025, presented by A. Lange & Söhne, will feature a secretive private collection of mythical Porsches and Ferraris. All owned by a single enthusiast, this unrivalled range of road and competition machinery will go on display in public for the very first time at Europe’s premier concours d’elegance event, held in the gardens of Hampton Court Palace from 5th-7th September.

The mesmerising array of cars, which will make up ‘The Collector’ display for 2025, will include a Ferrari F40 LM and 333 SP, as well as a Targa Florio winning Porsche 911 RSR, Porsche 935 homage and Porsche 911 GT1 EVO. These automotive treasures will line up alongside 60 of the rarest and most significant motor cars, all drawn from leading private collections the world over.

The Ferraris

The display will feature some of the most significant and coveted Ferraris of recent times. The Ferrari road cars will include a machine that many consider to be the very first ‘hypercar’: the 288 GTO. Named to honour of the legendary 250 GTO, the 288, a group B racing homologation special, was powered by a twin-turbo 2.8-litre V8, sending 400bhp to the rear wheels. It had ferocious performance for the mid 1980s and with just 272 examples built, it today ranks as one of the most coveted Ferraris of all.

The display will also feature the F40 LM, a high-performance, track-focused variant of the F40, which many consider to be the most iconic Ferrari. The LM was lighter and featured more aero, elevating performance on the circuit. It was a sharpened, harder edged version of an already uncompromising and intensely focused Ferrari. Only 19 examples were built, and September’s show will offer a rare opportunity to get up with this wild precursor to track focused hypercars.

The Maranello contingent will also include a legendary competition Ferrari, the 333 SP. Launched in the mid 1990s, the SP remains one of motorsport’s most beautiful and successful sports prototypes – heralding Ferrari’s triumphant return to American endurance racing after decades of absence. Developed specifically for IMSA World Sports Car championship, the prototype combined classic Ferrari V12 architecture with cutting-edge aerodynamics and advanced chassis technology. Its feral naturally aspirated 4.0-litre V12 produced over 650 horsepower while delivering a life affirming, hard-edged Ferrari soundtrack. Just 40 chassis were built by Maranello.

The Ferraris will be rounded off by a modern hypercar creation: the SF90 XX Spyder. The SF90 XX Spyder represents the absolute pinnacle of Ferrari’s hybrid powertrain technology, with the XX designation reserved for Maranello’s ultimate performance machines. An extreme, track-focused evolution of the SF90, it joined the long lineage of potent V8 Ferraris, and combined open-top motoring with Maranello’s most extreme performance potential. It featured a hybridised, twin-turbo V8, putting out close to 1000bhp, giving it true hypercar punch.

The Porsches

Some of Stuttgart’s most revered creations will also be on show as part of The Collector display. The Porsches will be led by the 1973 Targa Florio winning Porsche 911 Carrera RSR. Evolved from the seminal early ‘70s 911 Carrera RS, the RSR took weight reduction and performance to new levels through meticulous engineering refinement. Its lightened fibreglass body featured distinctive fender flares – accommodating wider racing slicks – while the pared back interior featured only the essentials needed for racing. Powered by a howling naturally aspirated flat six, it proved devastating on tracks around the world. This Targa Florio winning example is arguably the most desirable 911 of all.

Other highlights will include the wild 911 GT1 Evo, one of only 9 factory built ‘customer’ GT1 race cars, and one of two to be converted by the Porsche to full 1997 ‘Evo’ configuration. The stunning 650bhp machine competed at Le Mans in period, and has more recently been converted for road use by Porsche specialists Maxted Page.

The display will also feature a wild creation from more recent years in the bewinged, form of the 935 Homage. A limited-run track only special from 2018 only offered to Porsche’s top customers, it was conceived as a tribute to the legendary 935 ‘Moby Dick’ that dominated endurance racing in the late 1970s. Built upon the fearsome 911 GT2 RS platform, the 700bhp, twin-turbo 935 featured bespoke bodywork aping the original 935, complete with a dramatically extended nose section and the characteristic whale-tail rear wing that earned the original its unforgettable nickname. The car that will go on show at the palace is one of just 77 in existence.

Guests will also have the chance to pore over the Porsche 911 Rennsport, which represents the pinnacle of what’s possible within the modern 911 racing architecture. Unlike its homologated GT3 siblings, the Rennsport was developed purely for driving thrills, unshackled from the constraints of racing regulations or road-legal requirements. The extraordinary machine delivered 620bhp – remarkably all from a naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six engine – and tipped the scales at just 1,240kg, significantly lighter than its road car equivalent or other competition versions. Production was limited to just 77 examples, with all again going to Porsche’s most significant collectors.

James Brooks-Ward, Concours of Elegance CEO, said: “We’re delighted to showcase this unrivalled private collection of road and competition Ferraris and Porsches at our event next month. It brings together the most significant performance cars from the two most significant manufacturers; as collections go, it’s very hard to beat. And it’s never appeared in public before, so we’re immensely grateful to the generous owner for giving us the opportunity to display them in the finest setting of all: the glorious gardens of Hampton Court Palace. We can’t wait for guests to enjoy them at what’s certain to be our best event yet.”

The Collector cars will star alongside 60 other concours cars, drawn from leading private collections across the globe. Outside of the main Concours display there will special features, including the Levitt Concours – dedicated to the most passionate female owners – the 30UNDER30, which celebrates enthusiastic owners under 30 years of age and the Club Trophy, which gathers the very best examples of models from the nation’s best car clubs.

Aside from the automotive displays, the Concours of Elegance 2025 will assemble an engaging ensemble of luxury and hospitality partners, meaning guests and visitors can enjoy the ultimate garden party atmosphere, with champagne provided by Charles Heidseick and picnics by Fortnum & Mason. Leading names in the worlds of fashion, art and jewellery will be showcasing their fine luxury goods across all three days, while presenting partner A. Lange & Söhne will be presenting its most refined and intricate timepieces.
