One of the World’s Rarest Lamborghinis Confirmed for Concours of Elegance 2026
The Concours of Elegance is delighted to confirm that a quite extraordinary Lamborghini Jalpa will join this September’s gathering at Hampton Court Palace, a car whose rarity and remarkable history make it a compelling entry into the 2026 event.
Produced between 1981 and 1988, the Jalpa was Lamborghini’s accessible, driver-focused alternative to the mighty Countach, and just 410 examples were ever built. Of those, a mere 42 were produced in right-hand drive, making every surviving RHD car a genuinely scarce thing.
This particular example, a 1984 targa finished in rosso with grey accents, is one of those 42, and it presents in extraordinary original condition. With just 45,000 kilometres covered in its lifetime and its original decals still intact – thought to be unique among surviving cars – it offers a level of authenticity that is increasingly difficult to find.
The car’s history is as characterful as the machine itself. Its long-term owner purchased it in 1987 as his very first car, a decision made with such total conviction that, by the end of that week, the owner had spent virtually everything he had. Food, it seems, briefly became an optional luxury. Nearly four decades later, the car remains in the same hands, 39 years of ownership that speaks to just how special the Jalpa is to those who know it well.
The car’s significance has long been recognised beyond its owner’s garage. It was chosen to represent the Jalpa in Lamborghini’s official 60 Years book, appeared on the cover of Classic & Sports Car, and featured in the Encyclopaedia of Supercars as the definitive illustration of the model.
Concours of Elegance 2026 takes place at Hampton Court Palace from 4-6 September. Further announcements will follow in the coming months.
