The Junior Concours Returns to Hampton Court Palace for 2026
The Junior Concours will return to the Concours of Elegance in 2026, bringing a line-up of hand-built miniature cars to the Fountain Gardens at Hampton Court Palace on Sunday 6 September.
First introduced in 2020, the Junior Concours has become one of the highlights of the event, celebrating the craftsmanship, character and enthusiasm behind half and three-quarter-scale cars.
The Junior Concours is a little different from its full-size counterpart. Cars are entered as half-scale and three-quarter-scale recreations of iconic automobiles, with examples inspired by the likes of the Bugatti T52, Jaguar E-Type, Ferrari F1 Dino and Mercedes 300SLR. Many are hand-built with an extraordinary level of detail, while their powertrains range from traditional pedal power to electric motors and two-stroke petrol engines with centrifugal clutches.
The cars are also a family affair. Each Junior Concours entry sees a young Works Driver take the wheel, supported by their Mechanic – a parent who helps prepare the car and accompanies them through the day.
As with the main Concours, there will be a series of awards to compete for, including Best Pedal Car, Best Electric Car, Best Petrol Car, Most Original Car and Best Dressed Driver/Mechanic. During the day, the cars and their young drivers will also take to the Concours Live Stage.
Presented by A. Lange & Söhne, the Junior Concours offers a different perspective on the world of concours, combining miniature versions of some of motoring’s most recognisable cars with the enthusiasm of a new generation of enthusiasts.
With spaces limited, we are looking for more exceptional miniature cars to join the Junior Concours in 2026. If you have a half or three-quarter-scale car that you would like to enter, please get in touch with Iain Campbell at iain@thoroughevents.co.uk with details of the car and an image for consideration by the curators. We would love to hear from you.
The Junior Concours will take place on Sunday 6 September 2026 in the Fountain Gardens at Hampton Court Palace, as part of the Concours of Elegance.
